Privacy policy

When you place a reservation hold we collect your name, phone number, email address, the driver's age band, your pickup and drop-off dates and location, and any pickup or drop-off instructions you write for us. That is the minimum needed to hold a car and meet you with it.

When you browse, we store a random anonymous identifier in your browser so we can count how many separate visitors clicked a call button or asked for a quote. That identifier is not linked to your name, and we do not use it for advertising or sell it to anyone.

Your saved (favourite) vehicles are stored only in your own browser's local storage. They never reach our servers.

To confirm your reservation, to send you the confirmation by email and text message, to meet you at the right place at the right time, to answer your questions, and to keep records required by tax and rental law. We also look at aggregate click counts to understand which pages help people and which do not.

By placing a hold you agree to receive transactional email and SMS about that specific rental: confirmation, pickup details and changes. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop rental texts, or tell us on the phone. We do not send marketing texts.

Only the service providers needed to run the rental: our hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider, our SMS provider, and payment processing at the counter. Each is bound to use the data only to provide that service. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.

We disclose information where the law requires it, for example a valid subpoena, a toll authority's plate enquiry or a police request following an incident involving the vehicle.

Reservation records are kept for seven years to satisfy tax and liability requirements. Uncompleted or cancelled holds are deleted after 90 days. Anonymous click counts are aggregated and the raw rows deleted after 12 months.

Email travofarescarrental@gmail.com or call +1 (815) 991-4848 to see what we hold about you, correct it, or ask for deletion. We respond within 30 days. Deletion requests are honoured except where a record must be retained for an active rental, an open damage claim, or a legal obligation.

You can clear the anonymous browsing identifier and your saved vehicles at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in access-controlled databases; access is limited to staff who need it to service reservations. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell affected customers promptly if a breach ever affects their data.

This service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
