About Cheap Car Rentals
We are a phone-first car rental agency. Instead of an app, a queue and a counter upsell, you call one US-based team, get a total price out loud, and pick your car up at the curb.
How the company started
Cheap Car Rentals began as a two-car operation renting to travellers who were tired of arriving at an airport counter at midnight and being told the reserved rate no longer applied. The first customers were repeat business travellers who wanted one thing: someone who picks up the phone and quotes a number that does not change. That is still the whole idea. Today we coordinate 61 vehicles across 16 metropolitan areas, and every reservation is still confirmed by a person, not a form.
How we price a rental
Our quote is built from four visible parts: the daily rate for the vehicle class, the city's rental tax, any airport concession or facility fee charged by the pickup point, and the optional extras you choose (protection, additional driver, child seat, toll transponder). Nothing else is added at the counter. When you hear a total on the phone, that total is what your card is charged, aside from fuel you use and any traffic citation you personally incur.
Airport pickups genuinely cost more than neighbourhood pickups, because airports charge operators a concession percentage and a facility surcharge per rental day. We show that as its own line rather than hiding it inside a higher daily rate, so you can decide whether an off-airport pickup ten minutes away is worth the saving. On a week-long rental the difference is frequently forty to seventy dollars.
How vehicles are prepared
Every car is cleaned, refuelled and photographed on the day it goes out. The photo set is timestamped, which protects both sides: if a scratch is not in the photos taken an hour before your pickup, it is not billed to you. Vehicles are serviced on the manufacturer's interval, tyres are replaced at 4/32" tread rather than at the legal minimum, and any car that reaches 45,000 miles leaves the fleet.
What our guarantees mean
- Free cancellation. Cancel or move your dates by phone up to 24 hours before pickup at no cost. There is no cancellation form and no restocking fee.
- Unlimited miles. No mileage cap and no geographic restriction inside the lower 48 states. Cross-state and one-way-within-metro trips are fine.
- Quoted total. The number quoted on the call is the number charged. If a pickup location adds a fee we failed to mention, we absorb it.
- Roadside help. Included on every rental, 24 hours a day, for lockouts, jump starts, flat tyres and towing.

We serve Nationwide — 200+ US pickup points, with curbside airport handoff in every city we cover and free hotel delivery in most downtown areas. Each city page lists that city's pickup points, local taxes, seasonal pricing and the vehicles most often rented there.
